TSA Ending "Shoes Off" Screening
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (HS) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will be moving towards revising airport security screening procedures - including allowing passengers to keep on their shoes, based on a report from politico.com. Speaking Tuesday morning in Washington, HS Secretary Janet Napolitano said that the "shoes off" security screening policy was coming to an end but the restrictions on carrying liquids on board will remain in place for some time."We are moving towards an intelligence and risk-based approach to how we screen," said Napolitano "I think one of the first things you will see over time is the ability to keep your shoes on.

One of the last things you will see is the reduction or limitation on liquids."The TSA will be moving towards more of a technology approach in the screening of shoes which will allow passengers to keep their shoes on.

No time frame has been set as to when the "shoes off' policy will be lifted.

5 Time-Saving Business Travel Tips
Time is precious when you're on the road. So to save that precious resource, here are 5 time-saving tips that will make your life on the road that much easier.

1. Keep a Packed Bag
Even if you don't know when your next business trip will be, get in the habit of re-packing your carry-on bag with fresh clothing and essentials when you return from the road. It may seem like an annoyance, but this step will save you valuable minutes the next time your alarm goes off at 4:00 a.m. for an early morning flight and all you have to do is reach for a bag and go.

2. Fly Regional Airports
Big hubs have more flight choices but flying out of smaller airports can save you time and hassle. Security lines, traffic, parking and the check-in process are often easier and quicker at smaller or regional airports, so be sure to consider all of your options before booking.

3. Book Direct Flights
This sounds simple. Taking direct flights to and from your destination can often mean savings beyond just your time. You may, for example, be able to avoid overnight stays, which will save on potential hotel, car and meal expenses.

4. Check In Online
As the airlines continue to cut staff, check-in lines at the airport will only get worse. Checking-in online will allow you to bypass this step and proceed directly to security. Note: Checking-in online will have been in vain if you have luggage to check; always travel with carry-on-sized bags!

5. Select Your Seat
Ask that your UNIGLOBE Travel Agent seat you near the front of the plane whenever possible. You can check your seat assignment as you check in online, and make changes if seats have become available further to the front. Being able to hop off the plane quickly - and avoid throngs of amateur travellers in the aisles - will save time and your sanity.

Emirates, WestJet pen Interline Deal
Emirates and WestJet have launched an interline deal that will offer passengers expanded global air travel. The new agreement will make global travel more accessible for outbound passengers who can now connect to the Emirates network via WestJet, travelling to Dubai and beyond to any of the 114 destinations that Emirates flies. The partnership will also help to boost tourism, business and investment from the United Arab Emirates and countries throughout the airline's global network to the numerous Canadian cities served by WestJet.

Don McWilliam, manager Canada for Emirates said the partnership airline will allow travellers to "explore our vast network of diverse and remarkable destinations with added ease and seamless connections on Canada's most celebrated airline."

Emirates operates three times weekly from Toronto to Dubai and on to more than 100 destinations around the world. The new partnership allows travellers to book flights with connecting service on WestJet to more than 20 cities across Canada where WestJet flies.

In Toronto, Emirates departs from Terminal 1 and WestJet operates from Terminal 3. Passengers can connect quickly and easily through a two-minute airport train transfer system that runs regularly between the two terminals.

When ticketing an Emirates through fare, travellers will receive boarding passes at their first point of check-in and can through-check two bags to their final Emirates destination free of charge.
